Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus is incomplete without devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. In fact, the feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary is always celebrated the next day following the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. That is, the solemnity of Most Sacred Heart of Jesus is celebrated 19 days after Pentecost, and the memorial of the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary is usually celebrated the next day.
Thus, devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus necessarily leads to, and is necessarily connected with, devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary are so much alike and so closely united that devotion to one cannot but lead infallibly to devotion to the other one. They are two hearts that beat as one.
The hearts that are favored by the Sacred Heart of Jesus are likewise favored by the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and vice versa. Let us then also address ourselves to Mary through her Immaculate Heart, the perfect image of the Heart of Jesus; the Heart that is so constantly united to the Heart of her Divine Son; the Heart that shared his joys, labors, sorrows, and love for us. Never shall we find Jesus without Mary, nor Mary without Jesus.
The Immaculate Heart of Mary refers not only to her physical heart, but also to her interior life, her joys and sorrows, and her virtues and perfections. Above all, it also symbolizes her virginal love for God the Father, her maternal love for her Son, Jesus, her pure affections for the Holy Spirit, and her compassionate love for everyone.
The Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary are more than just symbols; they are expressions of the deep and abiding love that God has for humanity. They remind us of the sacrifices made, the love shared, and the grace bestowed upon us all. These symbols continue to inspire and guide us, leading us towards a path of love, compassion, and salvation. They serve as a reminder of the divine love that is always present and the call to respond to that love with our own hearts.
Let us never separate the Heart of Mary from that of Jesus in our devotions. Let us honor and love them from the bottom of our hearts. Let us address our requests to God the Father through the Sacred Heart of Jesus; and let us approach Jesus through the Immaculate Heart of Mary. We shall obtain everything from the Father by the Heart of the Son, and everything from the Son by the Heart of his Mother.
Let us pray. Hail, sweetest Heart of Jesus, Hail, noble Heart of Jesus, most living stream of all goodness and all grace! Hail, loving Heart of Jesus, I bless and salute you a thousand and a thousand-fold for your divine goodness! You are the Fountain and Source whence all good and all mercy stream forth. O noble and precious Heart of Jesus Christ, I salute and adore you who, through the divine will of the wonderful Trinity, inundate all saintly souls with the torrent of your divine graces. O Heart of Jesus, Heart flowing with loving kindness, let your abounding love and kindness overflow to me. Amen.
O Blessed Virgin Mary, may your Immaculate Heart triumph; obtain for me the grace to be faithful to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. O Immaculate Heart of Mary, Heart most like the Heart of Jesus, implore Jesus for me. May the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary always, and in all places, be acknowledged, praised, blessed, loved, and honored and glorified forever and ever. Amen.
